We're delivering Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) projects across the Midlands region. We are using biodiversity net gain as a means of funding the restoration of nature and creating a patchwork of wilder sites across the Midlands, and eventually, extend our work to the rest of England. We are committed to implementing the appropriate habitats and utilizing the funds generated to purchase additional land for rejuvenation purposes. Whenever possible, we will open up our sites to provide educational opportunities, from PhD researchers to school children and youth groups such as the scouts.
We feel BNG is built around an, "If you build it, they will come strategy" animals, birds, reptiles, insects are not covered within the scope of BNG. You do not receive extra merit if your habit becomes home to rare newts for example. Our goal is to go the extra mile and gain funding to put in bird/bat/owl boxes etc. To try and encourage critters into our habitats.
Media packs will be available from our sites, pictures, drone footage, CCTV you'll be able to see first hand how our projects benefit nature.
Biodiversity net gain (BNG) is a legal requirement that ensures new construction developments have a positive impact on biodiversity. The goal is to leave the natural environment in a better state than it was before development.
BNG is delivered by creating or enhancing habitats, and by minimizing damage to existing habitats. It connects habitats in which species can thrive and in doing so can help wildlife adapt to climate change.
BNG can improve our health and well-being by creating new or enhancing existing greenspaces, bringing nature to the doorstep.
It can help to create greener neighbourhoods that are more attractive places to live, work and do business for current and future occupiers.
BNG can help mitigate climate change through the restoration and protection of nature. For example, additional woodland creation will help take more carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. BNG delivery can be a way in which local communities can be directly involved in climate related adaptation projects, including tree planting and maintenance.
